Our church, Center Point in Lexington & Richmond, KY, is sending another team to serve the great people of São Paulo, Brazil! We are working with a number of missionaries this year — Mike & Rebecca Powell, Patrick & Ann-Janel McClure, Donna Faircloth, Russ & Diane Dean — as well as a number of local Brazilian pastors. The majority of our time will be spent at Haven of Hope Children’s Home, a ministry to impoverished children in Jacareí.

This is my 7th trip to Brazil (4th time as leader of a group) and I’ll be co-leading with good friend and pastor Tim Parsons. The team consists of 25 CPC members. Many of them are first-timers, not only to Brazil, but to missions ventures in general. I’m pretty stoked to see what God does in their lives.

We made a quick video to introduce the team (minus me and Tim). Each team member stated why they are excited about going on the trip. Check it out below:

Check back here for the next two weeks for more updates. We also covet your prayers… we want to see the Lord move in big ways. Thanks!

Deus te abençoe! (God bless you)

From June 22-July 3, we took a team of 24 people to São Paulo, Brazil to serve with Haven of Hope Children’s Home (Associação Morada da Esperança), Templo Batista Biblica, and Igreja Batista Biblica. We had the honor of serving with veteran missionaries Russ and Diane Dean, as well as Mike and Rebecca Powell and Patrick and Ann Janel McClure.

Thanks to all who gave, sent, mobilized, prayed, etc. to make this trip possible. You made an impact for the Kingdom of God! Here is the video recap from the trip:

I know it is actually day 5. but here is the recap of day four of our team’s journeys in Brazil. Giving the recap: Holly Smithwick, Andy Six, and Jeremy Armstrong.

We’ve been having a blast here! We had a great day of ministry yesterday and today started off with a bang as we had the privilege of worshiping this morning at Templo Batista Biblica here in Jacarei. Here’s a few shots of yesterday and today.

Our group singing in Portuguese and English at the favela (slums).

Our team doing the drama called “The Woman”, which is about finding hope and peace in Christ in the midst of a chaotic world.

This drama is called “King of Hearts”, which is about how we all hide beyond masks but Christ helps us realize who we can be in and through a relationship with Him.

I had the great honor of preaching at TBB, the first church I worshiped with in Brazil in 1998.

Our CPC team with some of the staff and members of TBB hanging out after church.

All in all, it has been an incredibly fruitful trip thus far! God has multiplied blessings here. The best highlight so far: our team leading 9 people to Christ last night… IN PORTUGUESE! It was awesome.

Keep praying for us. Hopefully the next update will be by Tuesday.
