Tomorrow, we fly out and head to the DEEP south. And I’m not talking about Alabama. We’re heading to São Paulo, Brazil for an action-packed week of Christ-filled goodness.
We have 23 members on this year’s team, all of which have learned dramas, music (English & Portuguese), Portuguese vocabulary and phrases, and the plan of salvation (English & Portuguese). These men and women have worked so hard, and it is all about to pay off. Tim (our pastor) and I feel so blessed to lead this group.
Once again, we’ll be working with veteran missionaries Russ and Diane Dean, who are like a second set of parents to me. We’ll spend time with their church (IBABI) and Haven of Hope Children’s Center. We are very excited about what God is going to do in our lives this week.
If you get a chance, pray for us this week. Each member of our team recruited a prayer team that would commit to praying for them each day. I have 12 folks on my team, and here is a picture of our prayer card and what I asked them to pray for:

Friday: Team unity, safe travels, and good rest. Pray specifically for both me and Tim – we are leading the trip and want God’s wisdom and guidance.
Saturday: Smoothly getting through customs (BIG DEAL!), getting settled in, start to the work project, bonfire with Brazilian youth in the evening.
Sunday: Worship services, Tim preaching, I am speaking/leading worship, many members are sharing, dramas, music. Also, key opportunity to serve the poor. Pray for many to come to Christ this week.
Monday: Heavy work project really begins- need strength! Pray for Russ and Diane, the missionaries. Specifically pray that their health struggles don’t weigh them down this week and that Christ will give them strength to do His will. English school visit in the evening – great evangelistic opportunity.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: Time with Brazilian kids, more work project, keep praying that we impact many people we come in contact with. Pray that team members stay strong and patient – much of the work will be challenging and days are long.
Friday: Sightseeing! Pray for safety and for a great experience. Flying out in the evening.
Saturday: Pray that all flights go smoothly and that customs is easy to get through on the way home.
